Likutey Moharan
This is Rebbe Nachman’s magnum opus. Consisting of two parts, part one was printed in the Rebbe’s lifetime in Ostrog, 5568 (1808), and part two was printed by Reb Noson in Mohelov, 5571 (1811). Both parts were printed together in the year 5581 (1821). Since then it has been printed in several hundred editions.
Sippurey MaasiotWondrous stories told by Rebbe Nachman containing awesome and lofty secrets. First printed by Reb Noson in Ostrog, 5576 (1816) and once again in 5610 (1850) with an additional, newer introduction.
Regarding these stories the Rebbe once said that they are even greater than his Torah lessons (found in Likutey Moharan) and that they have the power to arouse man from his spiritual slumber. Due to their great depth, it becomes evident that only the Rebbe understood the true meaning and secrets hidden in these stories. Nevertheless he approved of finding hints to their meaning, which has resulted in several commentaries and explanations to the stories. Some are found scattered throughout Reb Noson’s Likutey Halakhot and also among his letters recorded in Alim LiTerufah. Most notably is the commentary entitled Rimzey Maasiot by Reb Nachman Goldstein, the “Tcheriner Rav”, which is found at the end of most editions of the Sippurey Maasiot.
Sefer HaMiddot
A collection of short aphorisms on proper conduct and attributes organized by topics in alphabetical order. It is told that Rebbe Nachman compiled the first part of the work when only six years old with the second part added later on in his life. The book was first printed in Mohelov, 5571 (1811). In 5636 (1876) the work was reprinted by the Tcheriner Rav with source references to the aphorisms. In 5745 (1985) the work was again reprinted by the Nachalat Tzvi Institute (Breslov Research Institute) with fuller source references including those recorded by Rabbi Tzadok HaCohen of Lublin.
Prominent Breslov publishers have printed the book in several hundred editions.
Sichot HaRan
Short teachings and conversations of Rebbe Nachman collected by Reb Noson and first published in Ostrog, 5576 (1816) as an appendix to Sippurey Maasiot. The work is presently printed based on a fuller and expanded edition first printed in Zolkiev 5610 (1850).
Shivchey HaRan
The life and praises of Rebbe Nachman. It includes an account of the Rebbe’s pilgrimage to Eretz Yisrael. The work was written by Reb Noson and first printed in Ostrog 5576 (1816).
Today the work is generally published together with the Sichot HaRan under the joint title: “Shivchey VeSichot HaRan”.
